Though it was previously decided that the Governor General would open the Olympics on the Queen's behalf, plans are in the works to have Queen Elizabeth do the job herself, possibly with Prince Charles accompanying her on a tour of Canada. The possibility has also been raised to have Her Majesty visit the docks in Halifax to celebrate the centennial of the founding of the Royal Canadian Navy. However, since the centennial is in May, that may not happen because she may not be up to two visits in a row.
Maybe Her Excellency would like some houseguests in Rideau Hall for a few months?
